How we built a private AI platform for personal injury law firms.

Overview

We built AlphaAI, a private AI platform for personal injury law firms across North America. It handles the document-heavy parts of a case, from medical chronologies to demand letters, while adapting to each firm’s standards and drafting style.

Today, AlphaAI is used by over 200 lawyers, has processed more than 2 million pages, and reduces document workload by up to 70%.

Challenge

Every personal injury case comes with a heavy documentation burden. Medical chronologies can take days to compile. Demand letters often take 10–20 hours. Discovery files and pleadings are repetitive, but detail-critical. In a contingency fee model, every hour spent on paperwork eats into profitability.

Personal injury law firm document workload and paperwork challenges

Most legal tech tools approach this with templates or basic automation. They struggle with context, break on edge cases, and often force firms to change the way they work to fit the software.

General-purpose AI tools also hit their limits quickly. They struggle with 1,000-page medical records, handwritten doctor’s notes, firm-specific formats, and case management integrations. And if the output still needs heavy editing, the time saved disappears.

Firms needed something purpose-built for the realities of personal injury work. Any single point of failure makes the system unusable in legal practice.

Solution

AlphaAI is a private AI platform built specifically for personal injury firms. It summarizes medical records, drafts demand letters, builds case chronologies, reviews discovery files, and visualizes a patient’s medical history. It was designed to handle the things general-purpose AI struggles with: files over 1,000 pages, scanned and low-quality PDFs, handwritten notes, and mixed file types within a single case.

Every output goes through a dual verification process. One model generates the draft, and another independently checks it against the source material. Each document includes an audit trail, so teams can review what was produced and why.

Each firm gets a dedicated, private instance configured around their own documents, templates, and preferences. No firm data is shared across instances or used to train other models. We analyze each firm’s past work, including writing style, formatting, and legal phrasing, so the system can draft in a way that feels consistent with the firm’s standards.

AlphaAI connects with the tools firms already use, including Filevine and Clio, so data can move in automatically. Implementation takes weeks, and the platform fits into existing workflows rather than replacing them. It also draws on a case law database built from publicly available sources, so research and citations can be traced back to real authority.

Medical chronologies that once took six hours can now be reviewed in around six minutes. Demand letters that used to take most of a day can now be drafted in seconds.
