How we built a prescription consultation platform for Pharmacy Prime.

Overview

We built Nexus, a prescription consultation platform for Pharmacy Prime, a UK online weight-loss clinic prescribing GLP-1 weight loss medications.

Getting a prescription approved is not a simple transaction. A patient submission triggers a chain of steps: identity checks, document review, clinical sign-off, payment, and fulfilment. Every one of those steps was being done manually, across separate tools, by hand.

Nexus runs the entire process in one place. Prescription processing time dropped from 9 days to 36 hours, the same clinical team now handles three times the patient volume, and admin time per consultation dropped by 90%.

Challenge

Every morning started with a backlog. A patient submitted a consultation. An admin downloaded it, copied details into a spreadsheet, opened a separate ID email, re-keyed the same data into LexisNexis, chased missing documents, sent a payment link, and handed the case to a prescriber.

Forty-five minutes of work. Per patient. Every day.

Nothing talked to anything else. Patient data lived in Typeform. ID lived in email. Payment lived in Stripe. Verification lived in LexisNexis. A Google Sheet called Rainbow was reconciled against Stripe by hand, even though Stripe stored the cardholder name, not always the patient's. Cases fell through the gaps. Documents went missing. Follow-ups got lost.

Returning patients made it worse. A repeat prescription meant the full intake again from scratch. More than a third did not bother.

Solution

Nexus connects the identity, payment, clinical, and communication tools Pharmacy Prime already used, and automates the work between them.

The admin who used to spend forty-five minutes per patient now spends five. Nexus took every tool Pharmacy Prime already used Typeform, LexisNexis, Stripe, Blueprint and connected them into a single workflow. New patients, repeats, and transfers each get their own intake path. Identity verification runs the moment a submission lands. Missing documents trigger automatic upload links.

Payment is authorised at checkout but only captured after clinical sign-off, so no patient pays for a prescription that gets rejected.

Clinical review runs through Blueprint. Nexus submits the case in one click; clean approvals auto-accept and auto-dispatch, and only modified or rejected cases need a human.

Reorders use email and a one-time code to open a pre-filled form with the patient's identity, address, and medication history; signed email links can skip the code entirely. Transfers map a competitor medication and dosage to the right product automatically - Ozempic to the Wegovy equivalent, for example.

Every order carries an audit log of 48 timestamped, attributed action types, with every history queryable and exportable, so a consultation timeline takes hours to reconstruct, not weeks. Across the workflow, only document review and exceptions still need a person.

Results

Pharmacy Prime moved from manual coordination to same-day clinical throughput for most eligible consultations.

Nexus replaced a process that required 45 minutes of manual work per patient with one that requires 5. New-patient prescriptions now move from intake to approval in roughly 36 hours; returning-patient reorders, in under 2 hours. The clinic handles 3x patient volume with the same clinical team.
